There have been some updates to the website over the last couple of weeks.

1. DMS Theory Assignments can now be downloaded and printed from home if a student loses their paper.
2. Warm-ups, scales, chorales, etc. can now be downloaded from the Student Notebook Items link under the DMS Bands and DCHS Bands tabs.
3. Links to several music games have been uploaded to the website.  You may access them through the Games tab at the top of the page.  Additional links will be added over the next few days/weeks.

DMS Announcements

1. Several students still need to pay for their notebooks ($6.00) and many students have not turned in their handbook agreement forms.  You may check Charms to verify what has been turned in or if there is money owed.  If you believe there is an error, please contact us and we will double check.
2. The Weekly Assignment sheets will continue to be uploaded to the website, however, we will no longer be printing those for every student each week.
3. Please check the information on the homepage (www.dcband.org) for information about SmartMusic.  Students are eligible for a FREE subscription for all material in their Essential Elements books.

DCHS Announcements

1. Chair placement music will be handed out on Thursday.  Auditions will occur on Thursday, September 24.  Auditions will be recorded and will be anonymous.
2. Students need to start bringing in their black notebooks on Thursday, September 17th.  There will be additional materials added to them this year.  If a student needs a new notebook, they are $6.00.  We need to know ASAP who needs one so we can copy all items.

Marching Band Announcements

1. Report time for Friday, September 18th is 5:00 p.m.
2. Remember that Transportation Waivers are due BEFORE we leave the high school.
3. Upcoming marching competition dates and location (Report and Performance times will be given out as soon as possible.  Schedules are not released until roughly one week before):

                         September 26th - Bradley Central High School, Cleveland, TN.
                         October 10th - Stone Memorial High School, Crossville, TN.

Below you will find the 2016 Band Trip information.  The trip is open to all students (and family members) that will be in 8th grade through high school during the 2015 - 2016 school year.

DMS Bands

1. Students will need instruments on Friday.  Normal classes should occur.
2. Jazz band will rehearse on Tuesday as normal.
3. Please turn in the forms sent home with your student last week.  They are all very important to the planning of events.  You can find copies of these letters in the previous post.

DCHS Band

1. Please turn in the band banquet letter by May 1st.  A copy can be found below.
2. There will be an after-school rehearsal on Tuesday, April 28 from 3:45 to 5:15 to combine the percussion and winds in preparation for the concert.
3. The concert is Thursday, April 30th at 7:00 p.m.

Below is the 2015 - 2016 DC Band Calendar.  At this stage, some dates are subject to change based on the availability of facilities.  Any changes will be updated ASAP.

The 2015 Band Camp dates are as follows:
July 27 - 31: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
August 3 - 4: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
August 6: 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

School starts for students on August 11th.  After-school rehearsals will start that day.  We do not know yet what the times for after-school rehearsals will be.  We are waiting to hear what the official end time for the school day will be.

The full 2015 - 2016 band calendar will be published late next week.

The previously posted schedule for concert festival for the DCHS Concert Band has changed.  Our time slot was changed to later in the afternoon.  The students will now report to the bandroom at the end of 6th period.  We will leave DCHS at 2:50 p.m.  Below is the letter that was given out to the students today.

Account credit for the 2015 Garbage Bag Sale has been entered into your Charms accounts.

If we do not have an account form for you, no credit was entered into your account.  If you want and account, fill out a Band Account Agreement Form, have it notarized, and return it to Mr. or Mrs. Chance.

The intention of this blog will be to post weekly and special announcements for each grade level and the band program as a whole.

This week's announcements are:

1.  We ask that all parents please log in to their child's Charms Office Assistant account and update their personal information.  We use the Charms system to send out important updates/notifications about special events or changes in scheduling.  If you are not sure how to log in to your Charms account, please click on the Charms tab to the left for instructions.  If you need your child's student I.D. number, please email Mr. Chance.

2.  We have quite a few students who have still not paid for their notebooks.  Those need to be paid for ASAP!  They are $5.50 each.

3.  Several 7th grade students have not paid for their Essential Elements Book 2.  Wind player's books are $10.00.  Percussion books are $15.00.

4.  Thank you to everyone that picked up their garbage order.  If you have not picked up your order yet, please contact Mr. or Mrs. Chance to arrange for pickup.

5.  Students attending the Wicked trip need to be at DCHS no later than 8:45 a.m. Saturday morning.  We will return to DCHS at approximately 7:30 p.m.  Below is an image of the letter that was passed out (8th grade students have not received this yet due to the days missed because of inclement weather.)
